Manchester Velodrome - 30 October 2010

Here are just a few pictures from a Manchester Velodrome experience, thanks to Bolton Clarion cycling club for hosting the event along with Jim for organising it, featuring surprise guest rider Charlie! A good time was had by all, the main fact to get used to is that the bikes have fixed gears and no brakes! also the curved track is 42.5 degrees steep!!

Sunday 10th January 2010 Snow ride in Kentmere

Here are a couple of photos of the snow ride in Kentmere, with Jamie, Grant, Joel and CT. It was a warmer start to the ride, above freezing and some snow had fallen in the night, not the powder of previously, but still fine although heavier. The riding was good, some ice exposed lower down but OK, the problem higher up was the recent snow and wind leading to drifts which you could not ride through. The wind was much stronger and in places it pushed you off course wither onto ice or into drifts! Anyway all in all a good ride.

SNOW pics December 2009 - January 2010

Just a couple of shots from my phone camera showing the snow, these are around Kentmere and Garburn. Great blue skies, powder snow on tops, cold and crisp. We only met a couple of walkers and at the bottom of Dubbs lane we met 3 chaps who were setting out with skis attached to their backpacks, it would have been great at the top, if only we had ski/boards/sledges attached to our bikes!!!

March 2009 Scotland weekend

Here is just a little taster of what happened in Scotland; a group of us stayed in a timber lodge in Sandyhills with the view to ride the local seven staines and other routes. 6 of us (CT, Charlie, Jamie, Grant, Paul and Neil) met up on Friday lunchtime at Drumlanrigg and we rode the tree lined red and black routes as a warm up for the weekend, 2-3 hours worth! Then onto the chalet to meet CM & Joel and prepare a light supper of Lasagne and chili. Early to bed? for an early rise on Saturday and a trip to Kirroughtree, George came up for the day to experience the Kirroughtree ride. Kirroughtree red and black routes take a few hours, but is definitely worth it, after a swim and sauna to sooth the legs; the Saturday meal is the traditional curry feast, thanks to JP & GA and not forgetting cheesecake by Deb!! Nice and easy wake up on Sunday for the local ride around Dalbeattie, see photos of Grant on mini-slab and Jamie on slab-2! The other picture shows riders enjoying the sun! Monday we finish off with Mabie, an enjoyable way to finish the weekend and great food at the cafe. If you want more details ask any of the riders are check out the DVD coming soon! One last point, Big Thanks to all the supporting crew, partners, wives, girlfriends...who allow the chaps to indulge in MTBing.
